The Story
Purchase includes CDÂ postcard signed by 10 Years.
Growth is a process that never stops. Rather, it ramps up as time passes. 10 Years accelerate this cycle on their ninth full-length album, âViolent Alliesâ.
In 2019 the gold-certified Knoxville, TN alternative hard rock trio spent five weeks with GRAMMYÂź Award-winning producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Halestorm, Papa Roach, Three Days Grace), and what resulted was an album that shows the bandâs progress as a unit as they embrace heightened vulnerability, elevated song craft, and sonic adventurousness. We donât ever try to recreate what weâve done in the past,â explains vocalist Jesse Hasek. âWe knew we had to challenge ourselves to see what we had in us. We let ourselves enjoy the process, be vulnerable, and talk about those emotions. We were able to harness that love of creating from a wiser and more developed perspective.â
This advanced outlook is displayed on tracks like the albumâs first single âThe Shift.â âWhile in the studio last fall, we were looking at the state of the world as we wrote âThe Shiftâ,â Jesse reveals. âAs a society, weâre so distracted that weâre not united. When the pandemic happened we realized weâre all in this together.â âLyrically, itâs about the polarization of society and the human impact on the earth itself,â adds guitarist Brian Vodinh.
Ultimately, 10 Years keeps pushing forward with âViolent Alliesâ. âThis record wasnât just another record,â Brian explains. âItâs the result of working hard to improve on all levels. Thereâs a lot to dig into. Itâs a graduated state for the band.â âAfter all of this time, 10 Years is a brotherhood,â adds Jesse. âItâs been an unexplainable, crazy, and awesome journey. Weâve beaten the odds and continue to live life. Life is beautiful, if you really go for it and try. It can show you beautyâ and thatâs what this band has shown me.â
