Eagles Of Death Metalâs Jesse âBoots Electricâ Hughes is tipping his hat to 13 of his favorite songs with his first covers album, titled Eagles Of Death Metal Presents Boots Electric Performing The Best Songs We Never Wrote. Hughes recorded and produced electrifying renditions of 13 songs he loves, including covers of KISS, Guns Nâ Roses, AC/DC, Love & Rockets, Ramones, Steve Miller Band, George Michael/Wham, Mary J. Blige, Queens of the Stone Age, The Distillers, David Bowie & more!
Hughes has recorded and produced electrifying renditions of 13 songs he loves, joined by special guests for some tracks and flying solo for others. All but one song were recorded in California at Brunswick House of Dangerous Thoughts, Valentine Studios, and Rancho De La Luna. The album was mixed and engineered at Valentine Studios by Nic Jodoin (who also co-produced six of the albumâs tracks with Hughes).
Hughes blasts off with KISSâ âGod Of Thunder,â Guns Nâ Rosesâ âItâs So Easy,â AC/DCâs âHigh Voltageâ / âItâs A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock âNâ Roll),â Love & Rocketsâ âSo Alive,â and The Ramonesâ âBeat on the Brat.â He lets the fire get higher on Steve Miller Bandâs âAbracadabraâ and delivers a breathtaking turn on George Michaelâs âCareless Whisper.â Hughesâ inspired cover of Mary J. Bligeâs âFamily Affairâ leads to two songs keeping it in the family: he gives love to his musical brother and EODM co-founder, Joshua âBaby Duckâ Homme, and Joshâs wife, Brody Dalle, with his versions of Queens of the Stone Ageâs âLong Slow Goodbyeâ and The Distillersâ âThe Hunger.â Bringing the album home, Hughes salutes Kenny Rogers & The First Editionâs âJust Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Is In),â Cat Stevensâ âTrouble,â and David Bowieâs âMoonage Daydream,â which Hughes recorded in Third Man Recordsâ Record Booth in Nashville while on tour.
