The Story
Purchase includes CD booklet signed by Katie Pruitt.
Emerging singer, songwriter, and musician Katie Pruitt will release her highly anticipated debut album, Expectations, February 21 via Rounder Records. A coming of age album that pulls from Pop, Americana, Rock, and Folk, Expectations is a daring statement tackling topics of religion, mental health, and modern love. Atlanta native Katie Pruitt's Rounder debut delivers messages of resilience and the idea of embracing what makes you unique.
Co-produced by Pruitt and her close friend Mike Robinson, Expectations was recorded in Nashville and consists of ten new songs that are both uplifting and insightful (written solely by Pruitt) including the title track, which was recently released to critical acclaim.
The album also features her new song âLoving Herâ which premiered in celebration of National Coming Out Day. Pruitt reflects, âWhy is being âgayâ and âChristianâ somehow mutually exclusive? I wrestled with this concept my whole life. It made no sense to me that âloveâ could be a sin. I finally decided that even if it was a sin, I didnât care. I was in love for the first time with a beautiful girl that loved me back. It didnât feel wrong to me. After a tough phone conversation with my father, his words still ringing in my headâŠâIâm sorry, I just donât understand itâ to which I responded, âpeople donât like what they donât understand.ââ
